God does not tell us not to lie he tells us not to bear false witness. The Commandment not to bear false witness has been paraphrased over the years as that you shouldnвЂ™t lie, but thatвЂ™s an inaccurate representation of it. ItвЂ™s important to note that the Commandment does not say that you shouldnвЂ™t lie.

The foundation of JesusвЂ™ teachings was the Ten Commandments and everything that stemmed from the Commandments, so we clearly need to focus on them.

We arenвЂ™t expected to be perfect (even Jesus wasnвЂ™t perfect), but we are expected to strive for perfection (вЂњ Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfectвЂќ) and to constantly work at improving ourselves. His followers are likewise expected to teach others, after they themselves have learned what they need to learn, and practiced it. As much as he was the Messiah, Jesus was also a teacher during his time here.
